Danny had gotten a few days to travel. It wasn't a normal thing of course, campers weren't really allowed to just come and go as they pleased but he had managed to secure a few days pass. It was odd being in the "normal world". Walking around with humans whose main concerns were....where should I get coffee today? What outfit should I wear? It was maddening, like they couldn't comprehend anything else other than their own petty needs. He supposed he probably sounded a little bitter, but it was the truth. Mortals were ridiculous. Danny had taken a train of all things, it had been a spur of the moment decision. He hadn't wanted to drive and planes brought back too many bad memories. Boarding the large black locomotive he went to his seat and leaned back, closing his eyes. The trip had been long, but he hadn't cared. The train's rocking had eased him into a sleep, and when he wasn't sleeping he could rest his head against the window and watch the scenery. He could pretend life wasn't the way it was, that a beautiful dark-haired girl wasn't gone.
He hadn't had a destination in mind when he boarded, but as the train pulling into a remote town in Georgia he decided to step off. Shouldering his worn backpack that contained a few day's rations he began walking through the little town. It was a nice enough place. People smiled as he passed, kids played. It would have been the kind of spot Charlotte would have loved, not that the thought mattered.
Walking through the town he passed rows of little shops, glancing at them as he passed. He had wanted to find a diner, but as he came across a book shop he paused. They had a small sign on the door that said WWII era books 50% off. Against his better judgement he walked inside, the small shop bell giving a ring. Walking to the section off to the side where the war books were he picked up one with the Arizona's name on the spine. Before he could begin to flip through it though a man walked over and spoke to him with a smile "Aren't we lucky life isn't like that right now? All that war." Danny paused a moment, looking up at the man before giving him a dry smile " Yea...real lucky." He looked back down at the book, opening it up and scanning over the pages as the shop man gave him an odd look and walked away. || WORD COUNT: 428 || OUTFIT: HERE || NOTES: YAY first meeting! || TAGS: @scarlett || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

Travelling with two guys was quite the pain in the butt some days. Scarlett just wanted a moment to herself from time to time, but that wasn't exactly easy. They seemed to always be there, and she only wanted a few moments to be a girl here and there. Was that so bad? Scarlett still had nightmares every night. She had finally managed to stop waking up screaming, at least most of the time. Every night she had to relive the worst day of her life. Relive the moment when the light left Ben's eyes and he died there in her arms. Scar had turned her back on the camp then, going to the stables, hopping on the back of the unicorn and getting the hell out of dodge. The last thing she saw at Camp Half Blood were Kadence and Balt fighting back to back, and she couldn't watch anyone else die. It was too much and she rode off, finding Judas first and then somehow Sebastian had ended up with them too. Life was different on the run, and they had been trying to find others like them for awhile when they came across what was being dubbed the Renegade camp.
Today though, Scarlett was getting away from it all. Things with Seb had gone...too far...and she was trying to not think about it. She had a lot to have to deal with right now, and she just had to get her mind off of it. She found herself in the small town that was near to camp and wandered around for a bit. She stopped at a small thrift shop and found herself a few little tops and things. She just wanted to be girly today. Walking through town she saw a small book store and headed towards it, she figured it might be a good idea to start to do a little research. She saw the sign on the window and her heart stopped for a second, she had been good friends with Charlotte, a sweet girl who had been stuck in the Lotus casino for decades after stumbling in there during world war two. She wondered if Charlotte had managed to make it out of the war, she remembered seeing her running around helping the wounded during the battle, but she hadn't shown up when Ben had fell, which made her wonder that maybe she had fallen too.
She was wandering up and down the aisles when she saw him. Her jaw dropped, she had met Danny a few times at camp, she knew he and Charlotte had been head over heels for each other. A man had stopped to talk to him so she hung back for a moment and when he had walked away Scarlett walked up to him, " Danny? Is that you?" When she realized it was him she shook her head, her eyes lighting up at the familiar face, " Gods its so good to see you!" she bit her lip looking up at him, her blue eyes swimming with tears that were threatening to spill over.

Danny ignored the odd look the man had given him and began flipping through the book. The pictures had been re-touched with color and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad one. On one hand it made it more real, but the downside to that of course was that it made it more real. Flipping to the page where the captain of the ship's picture was he paused, his breath catching. She had her father's eyes. He hadn't known that before. The similarities were striking. He could see her in him, easily. From the way he was holding his chin to the look in his eyes it was clear that his Charlotte had taken after her father. Danny knew the rest of the man's story and it hadn't been a happy one. He felt the tears threaten to come when he realized that she yet again followed after her father, finding a fate that he couldn't protect her from.
Danny shut the book, perhaps a little too loudly when a voice spoke his name, a female voice that was oddly familiar. He looked up to see a very familiar blonde smiling at him. He returned the smile with one of his own, the tension leaving him if only for a moment. He hadn't seen Scarlett since before the war. Things had been chaotic, he had been so focused on Charlotte that he couldn't honestly say if he remembered seeing her in battle or not, he couldn't remember seeing much of anyone that day. " Scarlett, wow. It's so nice to see you again."
Danny could have almost laughed, of course he would run into someone he knew in the middle of nowhere. That was the type of world they lived in now, where you never knew who was waiting just around the corner. Sometimes it was friends and sometimes you weren't so lucky. " So uh..what are you doing here? I mean...I don't think I've seen you around camp..." He might have missed her if she was there, but he doubted it. The Greeks tended to be a little closer since combining camps. He looked over her for the first time and noticed a small rise in her stomach, his eyes widening a bit and his face breaking out in a grin. " Are you? I mean...congratulations of course...I know Ben must be excited." He was still grinning as he looked around a bit for the mischievous son of Hermes. It wasn't everyday that happy news presented itself. He was happy for them, maybe they were able to start a new life together, leave all this chaos and have a family. He couldn't blame them for wanting it. || WORD COUNT: 454 || OUTFIT: HERE || NOTES: I can change the pregnancy thing if she's not showing or something just let me know! || TAGS: @scarlett || || template designed by NEMO of adoxography ||

She jumped a little when Danny slammed the book shut, just out of surprise, it wasn't something she had been expecting and the loud noise had caught her off guard. When he smiled at her though she had to just go to him and throw her arms around him hugging him tightly. It was so good to see a familiar face, and Danny was such a wonderful guy, she just was so happy to see that he was alive. All this time she didn't know if anyone had really made it out of the camp, but seeing people slowly come back into her life made her feel so much better. Maybe there was hope for them all after all. Though she was still unsure of who might have all fallen, it was good to see that some of the better people did make it out. Danny was a sweet guy, and protective of his Charlotte, she looked around not seeing her though and her suspicions were getting a bit much for her, she just had to know.
" I was just getting away for a bit." she shook her head, " I don't know of any camp, I have been travelling with Judas Holiday and Sebastian Crane for almost a year now." she frowned a little and had to ask the question, " Where is Charlotte? I figured that she would be with you if she..." she trailed off. Her blue eyes looked up at his in concern. She had a bad feeling that if Danny was here and Charlotte wasn't that she was indeed one of the fallen. She looked down as he noticed her stomach, and she bit her lip. This subject was not one she was very happy about just yet, and she wasn't sure how to address it. Then he brought up Ben and she lost it. Tears started to fill her sapphire eyes and she had to look away. Her hand went automatically to her stomach, something she didn't even realize she had taken up doing, but there it was.
" Ben..." she swallowed the knot in her throat and her fingers rose from her stomach to the diamond S around her neck, running her fingers over the surface of it. " Ben died at Camp Half Blood, in my arms...it was....I..." she shook her head and took a deep breath. " This.." she pointed to her stomach, " Was a mistake that should never have happened. Emotions running high one night with Sebastian.." she frowned. " I shouldn't have done that, and haven't since, it was just...heat of the moment I guess. Not my greatest moment." she bit her lip thinking Danny must think ill of her for doing that. It had been almost a year since the Battle of Camp Half Blood, but it still weighed on her every day. She had a long road ahead of her, single motherhood was not on her to do list, but it looked like that was where she was going to be going.

Danny noticed her jumping from the way he had shut the book and felt a bit bad for starling her, but before he could apologize her arms went around him in a hug. It was odd to have another female in his arms. He really hadn't been the hugging type of guy before, that kind of display always seemed so personal and intimate. He had hugged his Charlotte of course, but that had been different..she had well..been his Charlotte. Still, when the blonde put her arms around him he held her to him for a brief moment, enjoying the feeling of being near an old friend. Danny nodded when she said she had needed to get away, when she mentioned she had been traveling though Danny grinned at one particular name. " Judas? I remember him. He had some demons, but he's a pretty good guy.Glad to hear he made it out." Danny hadn't met Sebastian but he had heard mention of him at camp before the war. From what he heard the guy wasn't the most morally upstanding citizen, though it wasn't for him to judge. " The new camp is a mix of the Greeks and Romans who stayed together after the war. It's...hard but we're slowly pulling it together to fight the real enemies." When the conversation went to Charlotte he found it a bit hard to swallow. He hadn't been asked about her in so long, it was hard talking about it, it made it more real, it brought it to life again. He shook his head and looked down at the floor " She..didn't make it. I had her behind me, we were fighting off some Romans when she must have noticed a fallen Greek. She ran to them and before I could stop her..well..I'm sure you can imagine." He cleared his throat and blinked back the tears that were threatening to come. " She was like that you know...always risking her life for others." He smiled a bit, she had been a good person. No one could ever refute that.
When she looked down at her stomach and spoke Ben's name with pain he knew he had made a mistake. The smile he had earlier dropped. How could he have been so stupid as to assume anything anymore? He himself was a good example that you never assumed people made it. If you treated everyone with the expectation that they had lost someone then you tended not to hurt as many people. Yet here he was stupidly bringing up the love of her life. " I'm so sorry Scarlett. I shouldn't have assumed....I know...I mean...I understand how it feels, I should have known better." He wished for the nine-millionth time Charlotte was there. She would have known what to say, what to do. She would have made the whole situation better, but here he was on his own and of course screwing things up. When she mentioned the baby was a mistake, a night with Sebastian that she apparently regretted he shook his head a little " I don't believe in mistakes. It's the mistakes that make us who we are." He cleared his throat a little " So...Sebastian...is he uh...stepping up? I mean...I know you aren't happy about it but kids are great right? Someone to teach and love." Danny had always wanted kids. He and Charlotte had never really talked about having a family of course that always seemed out of his grasp, but he wanted one. He didn't care if they were boys or girls, the idea of a family always called out to him. A wife and kids to support, guide, and love. That was all anybody wanted right?
He resisted the urge to go get her some water, maybe a place to sleep or something. He hadn't been around any pregnant women before, and he knew in today's time a woman was well above having a man take care of her, but he couldn't help it. Speaking of a man he wondered where this Sebastian guy was. If a woman was carrying around his child he wouldn't be any less than five feet from her. She probably would have gotten irritated at him doting so much, but that's who he was. He couldn't imagine just leaving her to fend for herself. " Do you...wanna get some lunch? I think I saw a cafe down the street, c'mon..my treat..." He hadn't seen anyone he knew in such a long time, he wanted to sit down and actually talk, plus he was sure in her state sitting down would be a lot more relaxing than standing on her feet in a small bookstore.

Normally Scar wasn't the jumpy type, but since the Battle of Camp Half Blood, she kind of had become that way. Every twig snapping in the woods was like a gun shot. Every little sound would wake her in the night, and she just never felt safe. She had both Judas and Sebastian with her, but still she was afraid. Scar was never scared, not before, but after she lost her memories, and then lost Ben and even Zeph, her world was upside down, and she wasn't the girl she once was. " Judas is very sweet, I enjoy spending time with him, he's actually turned out to be rather protective of me, which is nice. I didn't expect that." she smiled and nodded, she knew what Danny meant about the demons, they all had them in one way or another. " You are with the Romans? After what they did?" She blinked at him in shock. The Romans had destroyed their home, Ben was gone because of them, Charlotte was gone because of them, yet Danny could be in a camp with them and not want to murder them in their sleep? She had to admire his restraint.
Scarlett frowned, it was what she had thought, Charlotte died doing what she did best, helping people. " Charlotte was an amazing woman Danny, you were very lucky to love her and have her love you in return. She helped me so much when I lost my memories, and I will never forget that. She was a wonderful person, there is no one else like her in this world." it was true. Ben and Charlotte could never be replaced, and never would be, that much she knew. Ben would forever hold a place in her heart, and that was something that whoever loved her next would have to understand. " No, it was an easy assumption to make, I would have thought the same in your shoes. I won't hold that against you." she would have loved to have had a child with Ben some day, but that wasn't possible. Not anymore. This child, though unexpected, would be the best thing, or the worst, that could happen to her.
She sighed a little, " I suppose thats true. I will learn from this of course." she shook her head, " Sebastian isn't really the father type...I mean, I'm sure he will do something, maybe, but I don't expect him to help me raise a baby. It's just....not something I expect out of him is all." she wasn't even sure what Sebastian thought about the whole situation to begin with, much less if he wanted to be a father in that aspect. She contimplated putting the baby up for adoption, but that wasn't fair, and she had been in the system once and knew what that was like. Babies were adopted so quickly though, but this one was going to be a very different child all together. She could feel that already. She wanted a family some day, but now that she was going to have some other guys baby, that just didn't seem as simple anymore. Not that it ever really was, but she had pictured it. Her walking down the aisle in a white gown, the whole nine yards, now though...she couldnt fathom it. " I'd like that very much Danny." she took his arm gently in her hand, " Please lead the way."

Danny found himself grinning when Scarlett said Judas was a bit protective of her. He was glad the guy had stepped up and watched out for her. The last time he had talked to Judas the guy had been fighting demons that he wasn't sure he would ever conquer. Danny had tried to help him see past well..his past but he hadn't ever connected with him since then, it was nice hearing that he seemed to be taking on a role. " Good, I'm glad to hear it. Maybe a little bit of responsibility did him good. Sometimes the weirdest things can make us better people." When Scarlett asked about him siding with the Romans Danny pursed his lips. He registered the shock on her face and hated that it was there. He understood it of course, but he hated that it had to be this way. " I know...it sounds traitorous but they aren't the real enemies. They were deceived...like we were and the ones responsible are the ones we need to be fighting." Danny sighed heavily " Don't get me wrong..I hate it sometimes, but joining forces is the only way we have a chance against the Titans." He shrugged a bit and looked into her eyes hoping she wouldn't see him as a traitor.
When Scarlett began talking about his Charlotte he found himself smiling. She had that affect on people. She was the most kindest, bravest person he had ever met in his life, she was the only one who understood him. The only one he could ever relate to in such a real and honest way. She was the love of his life, simple as that. " Thank you...I know you meant a lot to her as well. I swear I don't think she had one enemy at camp." He laughed a bit, and nodded briefly when she said she wouldn't hold it against him.
When the conversation went to her unborn baby Danny listened quietly. When she said Sebastian wasn't the fatherly type Danny couldn't help but shake his head a little in annoyance. Like it or not a baby was on the way and planned or not this Sebastian guy needed to man up and be responsible. Danny smiled " Great, I think one was right this way..." and began leading her out of the small bookshop. He didn't say much as they began walking down the street. There were a million things going through his mind but none of them he felt was right to say. It wasn't his place, none of it was his business but there was so much on the tip of his tongue.
He led Scarlett into a small diner, asking for a booth away from everyone. When he sat down he ordered a coffee from the waitress and waited for Scarlett to order her drink. Fidgeting a bit with the silverware on the table he finally couldn't keep it in any longer. Leaning towards her he looked in her eyes " Look...I know it's not my place, nor any of my business but if you wanted help...if you needed or wanted someone to help you with your situation...I'm willing. As a friend to listen to you or...with the baby." He paused a second and ran his hand over the back of his neck nervously before speaking again " I mean I know you don't really know me all that well but if Sebastian isn't going or wanting to step up I'm willing. We can say the baby is mine if you want, I don't think anyone would question it and no one would have to know the difference...we wouldn't even have to be dating or anything but that way no one would question why I was helping you. " He pursed his lips again, not sure if he was stepping over boundaries or that she would be offended or not. He knew it was odd for him to say but he had his reasons " Look..my mom had to raise me by herself after my Dad left us and it was hard...even before the war, and exceedingly hard during. I remember how tired, how stressed and scared she was. Look I....I just....I just wanted you to know you don't have to be alone in this is if you didn't want to be." He sat back in the booth and looked over at her.
